Chelsey L. Watts has practiced law since 2016. She is licensed to practice in the State of Texas and the Northern District of Texas (2024). She represents clients in personal injury cases and has prior legal experience in Insurance Defense, Commercial Business Litigation, Construction Litigation, and Labor & Employment.

Chelsey has litigated cases across Dallas, Tarrant, Hill, Johnson, and Ellis counties, serving as first chair in more than 20 trials. At Ben Abbott & Associates, she successfully settled multiple cases totaling $600,000 for injured clients.

Her litigation experience includes high-stakes product liability and mass tort matters, including Essure removal and Hernia Mesh failure cases. Her prior experience also includes serving as an Assistant Attorney General with the Office of the Attorney General of Texas, Child Support Division.

Professional memberships and recognitions include the Board of Directors for the Dallas Bar Association, Dallas Bar Foundation Fellow, National Black Lawyers Top 40 Under 40, the Dallas Women Lawyers Association, Marquis Who’s Who in America, and Barristers Who Brunch. She currently serves as President-Elect of the J. L. Turner Legal Association.

Chelsey earned her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University in 2011. She obtained her J.D. from Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law in 2016, where she served as 3L Class Parliamentarian, Sergeant at Arms for the Death Penalty Awareness Society, a Student Attorney with the Harris County Criminal Law Clinic, Assistant Editor for the Law Journal on Gender, Race, and Justice, and received the CALI Award for Excellence in Death Penalty Studies.

Outside of her professional life, Chelsey enjoys traveling, spending time with her French bulldog Chief Laflare, and making memories with her family and friends.
